Notes On Rave In Dublin

Made by journalist and debutant filmmaker James Redmond, Notes On Rave In Dublin debuted at the 2017 edition of the Audi Dublin International Film Festival and garnered huge acclaim straight away.

The film tells the story of how club music came to Dublin in the 1980s and how a scene was born in a little-known club called Flikkers in Temple Bar. An underground movement, house and techno propagated as labels, club nights and illegitimate raves spread around the city, offering an alternative to the conservative culture of mainstream Ireland at the time.

DJ and gay rights activist Tonie Walsh – one of the film’s key contributors – will introduce this rare screening of Notes On Rave In Dublin, which is both a nostalgic look back on parties past and key insight into how our current cultural scene came to be.
