Sir Simon Rattle is one of the world’s most famous orchestra conductors. A talent on the piano, violin and percussion, it was through conducting that Simon really set himself apart, winning the John Player International Conducting Competition during his graduating year at the Royal Academy of Music.

From there, he established himself as a wunderkind, conducting his first prom at the Royal Albert Hall within five years of that competition. After working himself up to the role of principal conductor with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Simon became familiar to the public through his concerts and a BBC documentary.

Over the years, Simon has conducted some of the greatest orchestras in the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and the orchestra at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

However, he has recently become Music Director of the London Symphony Orchestra, a trailblazing organisation within the world of orchestral music. The LSO has recorded iconic film scores for cinematic releases like Star Wars while also working with legends like André Previn.

In his return to the National Concert Hall, Sir Simon Rattle will conduct the LSO through a rendition of Mahler’s Symphony No. 9 in D Major. Prepare to be thrilled by the music.
